Coffee On the Rock - Birthday Edition
It’s that time of year again. Hard to believe it is already October. I guess it’s time to plan my birthday ride again. I am not in the mood for a slog or a suffer fest this year. Also, due to my schedule, it can’t be an all day, day of aimlessness like last year. So this year I am planning an easy ride to the rock for coffee outside. Hopefully you can join me.
Ride details:
When? Sunday, October 27th - Start in Farmington, MN. Plan to leave the parking lot of Blue Nose Coffee at 9:00 AM. If you want to hang out and have some coffee prior, come earlier but we will roll at 9:00AM. We’ll pedal to Sweet Kneads bakery to grab a few treats and then pedal to the spot.
What bike and what do I bring? Bring whatever you want and ride whatever you want. I suspect we’ll have a wide range of both drink and food/treats. There is some gravel and sand so the only bikes that may have some challenges are skinny tire road bikes. But honestly, all are welcome and all bikes are capable of the route. I’ll be riding something with 2.3” or larger tires just because those bikes are the most fun for me! Your results may vary.
The route? I’ll make it up the morning of the event. I do this to keep the ride and group together as well as measure the mood of the day. It will have pavement, gravel, grass/dirt path. You’ll be riding or walking through tall grass and brush. There might be some bushwhacking and climbing over trees too. The entire ride will only be about 20-25 miles. It’s a no drop ride. If you want to go hard or fast, either ride before or after or don’t come! Ha! This is an easy, fun ride to a beautiful and mostly overlooked location. Fun and comradery with good folks is the purpose.
Weather - Who knows. Watch it and make your plans. If it’s raining, I’ll just grab coffee and donuts and hang out with anyone that makes the trek to Farmington.
