Up North

Not much biking or creating going on lately. For the past several weeks, my wife and I have given up our normal weekends for something else. We’ve been up north dreaming & scheming. Dreaming about having our own hideaway and escape property. Scheming on how we can make it work.

It’s not secret that I am getting up there in years. Every year brings something new. 3 years ago I quit a lifelong career to pursue something new. I spent last year recreating my career and learning a new industry. This year it’s about what comes next? What is next for my wife and I? Our kids have moved out and on and are adulting. We’ve both had, and have, successful careers. We are both healthy and future focused. What is next? For us, we continue to think it’s finding a place to call our own, to escape and live the healthy outdoor lifestyle we want. Sounds easy, right?!

Everyone’s situation is unique and personal. The last several weeks of driving up north in search of that property has brought real highs and lows. Laughter and tears. Excitement and exhaustion. Deep clarity and thick brain fog. I wish I could say we have found it, but at this moment, we are still searching. This story is just beginning.

So until this part of our next book, or chapter in our story, is put to rest and we find a place to call our own, my personal time is a bit more consumed and the time windows for riding, disappearing and getting lost in creating are a bit less.

Fingers crossed we find something soon so I can start moving in the direction and discovering and sharing a new local in my pics and my art.
