Finding Peace

My mom and daughter

When I started this new website, my intent was to focus on bikes and creativity. I made an intentional shift to share less about my family, family trips and personal stories and more on what inspires me. With the way the last several months have been going, I haven’t had much riding, creativity and sharing. So today, I am breaking my focus on bikes and creativity to share some news and recognize one of the most impactful people in my life, my mom.

About a week ago my mom passed away. My family is still processing this significant moment and loss. I can say with certainty that my family is mostly in a place of relief that she is no longer in pain and isn’t suffering in any way. The last days, weeks and months had been tough. We also know she has joined her mom, her dad and her brother.

I do not intend to share her, and our story, here. Rather, I simply want to share how much of an impact my mom had on my life. She is the reason that I am an artist. She had so many talents along with patience to teach and encourage. She told me I could do anything. She taught me, and so many others, the joy of making and creating things. She taught me love. Seeing her with any of her grand children showed me what true, unconditional, love meant.

I have spent some time each day since her passing looking through old photo albums and digital archives looking for photos, laughing and occasionally crying. I found some real gems and moments. My mom didn’t really like to have photos taken of her so unfortunately, I don’t have enough of them. I just want to share one that I believe shows her true soul and spirit.

Thank you mom. I love you.
