Tumbleweed Ti Stargazer - 1st Look

Sinewave Beacon 2 mounted to a custom Meriwether Cycles titanium fork

It’s time to get out on the roads. I want to ride them all. All surfaces. Any where. All the time. It’s also time to share the 1st look of my Tumbleweed Bicycle Company Ti Stargazer. It’s a looker!

If you have been around my blog, you know how much I loved the steel Stargazer. I bought one almost 3 years ago when I left my previous place of employment. I also wrote about Project 10 and my goal to shed a bunch of weight off myself and my bicycle. I’ll do a future post on Project 10, but this rig shaved over 2 lbs off the steel frame weight. It’s lighter, stiffer and more comfortable too. IMHO, it’s the Holy Grail of adventure bikes.

I finished this rig today and got a short ride in on it to work out the touch points and fit. It’s really really good. I can’t wait to ride it and write more about it in the future. Until then, here are the details as they stand today. Note - This is my any road version. I’ve got mtn tires and mountain touring set up too. I’ll show and share about that set up in the future. Consider this just a quick first look.

Engin Double Clamp seat clamp

That Meriwether Ti fork with 2.1” Vittoria Terreno Dry - Such a fast comfy combo!

These White Industries XMR hubs roll forever.

The SON Dynamo with big Paragon Machine Works drop outs and internal dyno routing on the custom Meriwether Ti fork.

Did you know each model of Tumbleweed Bicycles has a unique head badge? I love this one.

The Stance!

My ANY and ALL roads set up

Rear Derailleur: SRAM Rival with Ratio Technology Cage for wide range cassettes

Crank: Cane Creek eeWings - 170mm

Rims: WTB I25 Tough

Hubs: Rear - White Industries XMR, Front - SON Dynamo

Bag: Iceworm MFG - I made this myself. Also has an internal slot/sleeve for a 2nd water bottle. Keeps the bottle clean too!

Cage: Wolftooth Ti

Pedals: Time ATAC

Time to go make some memories. Drop me a comment if you have a question about the set up and/or why I made the selection of components that I made. Happy to share. More to come.

Need lots more of these roads and views. The bike is ready. Am I?

For my photo geek friends, images shot with a Nikon ZF camera with a Cosina Voigtlander 75mm f1.5 Z-Mount, manual focus lens.
