Kicking Off 2025

Had to go back a few years to find Fatbike photo’s with real snow……….But I’ve been riding my Fatbike anyways.

For the first time in many years, I am not kicking off 2025 with a list of specific goals. Someone sent me a meme the other day that stuck with me. It was a cyclist riding and smiling with the words.

Cyclist starts out the new year with no goals. Rides bike all year and is still happy!

What wisdom, right? While it does feel a bit weird for me to start the year without big goals. I think with where I am at in life, that this is more true and hits home more than ever. Ride your bike. Just Ride.

Even so, I do have some fun bike stuff going. Here’s a sneak peek. Both involve drop bar mountain bikes, something I have a bit of an obsession with. IYKYK

My V1 Salsa Fargo

It’s time to rebuild one of the most important bicycles I own…And helped create when I led Salsa Cycles. It’s time to get this bike ridable. It’s time to tell the story of how it came to be and how it shaped my future, inspired me (and so many others) and most importantly brought incredible people into my life.. My intent here is to modernize it a bit component wise. I want to have this bike ridable in the spring and I can’t wait to start having adventures on it again. Heck, I might even ride it at the Heywood ride in May. This is a full on go. I have started the rebuild already and I look forward to getting this done. More to come.

And speaking of drop bar mountain touring bikes, I am also rebuilding my Tumbleweed Stargazer. As you may recall, I have been riding a steel version that I purchased three + years ago when I left QBP. IMHO it’s as close to perfect for a drop bar, rigid, mountain touring bike as is currently available. Now it’s time to update my steel version to the titanium version. This one is gonna be real special. It’s happening.

Spring can’t come soon enough. Two drop bar, adventure bikes to build, ride and experience. I can’t wait.
