Salsa Fargo V1 Rebuild Update
Busy week here. I am working on part two of the Salsa Fargo Chronicles. I hope to post it this week. I got distracted by a busy week, a new release of the current Salsa Fargo and layoffs at my old company. It was hard to write this week. While I was fortunate and left QBP on my terms, I sure hate to see lay offs of good people. Even though it’s been 3+ years, I still feel the pain and empathy for talented people and friends laid off. Ugh.
That said, I just wanted to get a quick update out on the Salsa Fargo V1 rebuild. It’s rolls and is ridable. Ben at Heath Creek Cycles worked his magic and got it the brakes/derailleur dialed for me. I’m capable, but Ben is a wizard on mechanical brake set up and they feel so damn good! I also decided to just pay my talented friends at Cedero to build me a custom frame bag. I am more than capable, I just don’t have the time. And frankly, I have sewn less than 10 frame bags so I am 100% certain that they will make something even better than I can with my current time and experience.
I am not ready for the full reveal yet as I still have some updates to make. Turns out I am sorta picky on my bike set up and it’s not quite right yet. I have a new stem in transit to me to fine tune the fit. I’ve also got some additional component upgrades planned. But…It’s ridable and I plan to take this to Colorado next week. I just need to get the tires set up tubeless and it’s all set. I plan to get some pics and who knows, it just may come back with an Bingham Built ti seat post. We shall see.
I’ve done a few neighborhood loops and I am kind blown away. I settled back into the fit and ride very quickly. I also can’t believe how modern it feels with current drivetrain and technology. I think when I am done, this is going to be an incredibly special rig. I can’t wait to share the full monty and details.
More to come. I can’t wait to ride this rig, shoot some sweet pics of it and share the details.
The V1 is rebuilt and back in action! Does 10+ year old mud come out of Cordura fabric?
